Philosophy and Approach
I work with individuals of all backgrounds and ages dealing with complex trauma and other life stressors. My background has focused on child and adult victims of sexual abuse. I use evidence-based practices such as Internal Family Systems, and Psychodynamic Theory. I take a holistic approach to treating clients and look at the various symptoms and challenges one may be experiencing. Talk therapy is often beneficial on its own for clients, but I enjoy bringing in other activities such as play, humor, and art to enhance expression and understanding of one's feelings and experiences.
Formal Education and Training
I obtained my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Northwestern University. I follow the National Board for Certified Counselors Code of Ethics and the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics. To maintain my licensure in the state of Washington and Oregon, I am required every two years to obtain 40 continuing education credits, including six hours of ethics and four hours of cultural competency in each reporting period. My pursuit of a Master of Arts degree was characterized by a comprehensive curriculum that equipped me with a profound understanding of psychological principles, diagnostic processes, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
I started working in anti-sex trafficking in 2019 as a Sex Trafficking Educator at a Children’s Advocacy Center educating community members, medical and mental health professionals, and law enforcement about child sex trafficking in the United States. I produced an Anti-Child Sex Trafficking Conference in collaboration with the Children’s Advocacy Center. This experience led me to pursue a career in Mental Health Counseling. I began working as a therapist at the Children’s Advocacy Center working in conjunction with forensic interviewers, law enforcement, and social workers to assist parents, guardians, and children of abuse with Mental Health Care as they went through the investigative process. I transitioned into private practice work in 2021 to work with individuals in a more intimate setting. I found working in private practice I could work with a variety of people and focus on complex trauma work.
